Former High Commissioner
A diplomat, an academic as well as a writer with a prolific career, Mr. Le Gall was the former High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to Sri Lanka, with official oversight of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam Singapore and the Philippines. Appointed as High Commissioner of Seychelles to Sri Lanka in 2015, he held diplomatic duties from 2015-2016. Prior to becoming High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Seychelles to China, accredited to Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Singapore, from 2007 – 2015.
From 2001-2006, he held the position as Special Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, prior to which he was Adviser to the Ministers of Local Government, Sports and Culture, Education and Culture, Information, Youth and Culture – Republic of Seychelles, from 1992-2001, during which he was instrumental in conducting a feasibility study for the European Commission focusing on “Indian Ocean Cultural Festival”, between the years of 1992-2001.
Prior to entering Diplomacy he held senior administrative positions in several business schools and cultural institutions based in Paris. Amidst his multiple appointments, he was given responsibility as the Commissioner General of Seychelles Pavilion and was elected member of the Steering Committee of the Shanghai World Expo – 2010. He was also handed responsibility as Commissioner of Seychelles Pavilion – of the 2012 Yeosu International Expo – Korea, in 2011. In addition, his official appointments extended as the Vice President of the Permanent Committee of French Speaking Ambassadors posted in Beijing.
In 2011, Mr. Le Gall was elected member of the Steering Committee of the 2012 Yeosu International Expo. Furthermore, he was designated as the Honorary Professor of Africa Study Centre of Shanghai Normal University and Honorary Professor of Hebai Tourism Vocational University in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
Mr. Le Gall is also an acclaimed and award winning author with multiple publications including novels, essays and short stories. His accomplishments in the literary world include: “Officier des Arts et Lettres” – French Republic (2008 – Officer in the Order of Arts and Literature), 2003 Indian Ocean Literary Award for ‘The King’s garden’ a collection of short stories and “Chevalier des Arst et Lettres” – French Republic (1998 – Knight in the Order of Arts and Literature).
